Three Humboldt Penguin chicks hatched March 18 at the Columbus Zoo and the Zoo is now holding a contest to name one of them.
The female chick was born to parents Katja and Hans. The parents have been involved with feeding that has involved giving regurgitated food to the chick.
Penguin chicks grow quickly. They typically have their first set of feathers between 10 and 12 weeks old.
The options for the name are:
  • Gwen
  • Penny
  • Pippa
  • Penelope
The contest is being run with Kroger, which had employees choose the four finalists for the name. Votes are being taken at columbuszoo.com, at any Central Ohio Kroger and at the Zoo. Voting ends June 27 and the name will be announced July 9.
